    PRESENTATION

Citylife Housing complex – Architectural Concepts

The housing complex includes seven linear buildings and develops in two areas of the estate separated by a wide public pedestrian boulevard which visullay and phisically connects to the Citylife Park and the forecoming Hadid Tower.
The sinous profile of the rooflines, repeated over the entire complex, increasing in height from the five-floors building on Piazza Giulio Cesare, to the tallest, a 14 storey building, unify the seven buildings’ skyline and become a “fifth elevation” of the complex.

The layout of the buildings deteminates de facto a courtyard typology from which came the duality of the relationship between the buildings and the surrounding urban fabric. The facade facing out, where the living rooms are, have large windows and deep balconies to take advantage of views over the city and the future park. Wood cladding on the more protected interior facades facing the courtyard, the side with mostly bedrooms and kitchens, creates a feeling of domestic intimacy.

    BIOGRAPHY

    Profile
Maurizio originally joined the office in 2002, working primarily as 3D designer for several international competitions (BMW Leipzig, Florence Train Station). He moved to Italy in 2002 to join the MAXXI team, leaving the office to join the structural engineering working on the MAXXI project in 2003. He re-joined our Rome office in 2006 as Project Architect for the Milan Citylife Housing project, completed in 2013. Back in the London office the same year, he’s Associate since 2014.

    Education & Teaching
Maurizio has an Architecture Degree from the Universita’ degli Studi di Firenze, Italy and a Master’s degree in Architecture from the Design Research Laboratory at the Architectural Association, London. He has held an academic faculty position at the Universita’ di Firenze and has widely lectured and attended critics in different Italian and American universities since 2004.

    Projects
In the last years, Maurizio Meossi has been leading several big scale residential projects from Australia to Mexico, improving his experience in mixed-use developments and residential. He was Project Architect for the concept design for Sunland Towers on the Gold Coast in Australia. This ambitious project aims to redefine the concept of iconic residential development by integrating a unique series of programmatic elements and features within the architectural scheme. The new Mariner’s Cove precinct will include a cultural centre, aquarium and museum and is set to become a main tourist attraction once completed. The two residential towers are located close to the water front and create different unit mixes with optimised views.
As Project Associate, Maurizio worked on all stages of the Grace on Coronation residential towers project in Brisbane, Australia. Currently under construction, Grace on Coronation comprises 486 units in three towers and eight riverfront villas, as well as 635 car parking spaces and 7,300m2 of landscaped public parklands.
Since then, he has been Project Associate on two further large-scale residential developments in Mexico, including the Esfera Monterrey, a residential low-rise but high-density complex of 981 apartments. The community-orientated design optimises its environmental orientation, creating a sequence of interconnected internal and external courtyards, gardens and public spaces for both residents and neighbours, contributing to the urban integration. Maurizo has been team leader on all stages of the project, and was also responsible for consultant coordination and client relations.
